C2 :“Coping Creatively”
The changes and losses during the pandemic have been hard for all ages but especially teens whose focus is on peer relationships. Even as groups begin to meet again in person, many youth have expressed feelings of “awkwardness” in being together but trying to stay socially distanced. “Coping Creatively” is a support group designed to build connections and increase coping resources for teen girls overwhelmed by stressors during this challenging time.
Girls will be empowered to suggest specific topics they would like covered for each theme. As connection grows, the group will be challenged to encourage one another and brainstorm ways to creatively cope. All conversations will be guided and facilitated by trained therapist, Gretchen Fern Watson who has 10+ years experience in counseling with youth and families and 15+ years experience leading groups for children and youth in churches, hospitals, and schools.
Right now, groups will be held virtually but in-person will be available soon. Cost is $25 per group session (paid weekly or $150 up front for all 6 sessions). Scholarships are available based on need. The first group is planned to begin March 16 from 4 - 5:30 pm . Groups will continue weekly at the same time. All sessions will last 1½ hours. Girls will be grouped by middle school or high school. If a group is full, you can be put on a waiting list till another one starts.
