Policy for CPE Placements

Each student is expected to secure his/her own professional ministry placement in parish or community ministry positions, preferably for pay, and serving at least 300 hours per unit in ministry.  Some assistance can be offered in finding ministry positions for those who do not have a ministry position. Each student will provide an adequate and completed “placement agreement” form defining his/her ministry.  This form (See attached) is to be signed by the appropriate administrator (Mentor) of the ministry placement.  This is to establish open communication between the ministry site and the CPE Educators and to establish permission for site visitation by SMPCC faculty.

The site mentor can be someone like the chairperson of a Pastor Relations Committee, Personnel Committee member, supervisor, or involved lay leader. You can discuss options during your admissions interview. (See attached Guidelines for Mentors)
